STEER PIPE NOTCHING MACHINE

The purpose of this hand operated machine is to prepare jointing up of pipe and RHS materials so that maximum strength welding joints can be achieved easily and quickly, and without the use of oxy burning or grinding to shape with an angle grinder. The cuts are generally burr free and no distortion of the material takes place.

The operation is carried out by lifting the lever handle upwards and at the same time pushing the material firmly into the set of dies.

Most tube and pipe is not difficult to notch out, providing that you are not using over 2.9mm wall material. The machine has been designed to notch out material up to 65NB by hand.

A standard notcher is supplied with 5 sets of dies - 20~50NB. It is a simple job to select the dies as all pieces are numbered from 1 through 6. The machine should be mounted 700mm above the ground, as this is usually an ideal working height.

For on site operation the unit can be mounted on a plank of wood 150 x 50mm or 200 x 50mm around 2mts long. With the machine bolted to one end and the user standing on the other end there will be no undue movement.

Summing up the notcher is not only quick to operate compared to grinding etc but you have a stronger cleaner joint therefore cutting down time. When on site you are able to complete the job faster and it allows for easier welding in difficult positions eg reduced vertical welding as you are following around pipe.

Available for this machine are RHS notcher dies and ERW dies.
